What does my child need to bring for preschool
Your child will need to have a backpack, indoor runners (velcro type) to be kept in their backpack and a change of clothing kept in a bag. Please remember to label all of your child’s belongings.
Does my child have to be toilet trained?
Yes, all the children are responsible for their own toileting needs.
Can anyone attend Happy Hearts Preschool?
Yes. Happy Hearts Preschool is a Ministry of Westhill Park Baptist Church. You do not have to attend the church in order to register or participate in the preschool program.
Do you have snack time at Happy Hearts Preschool?
Due to the number and variety of allergies of students who attend preschool, we do not have a snack time during class. There are special events that occur during the school year in which treats are provided.
What if I am early or late dropping off or picking up my child?
Arrival: Entrance to the preschool is through the northwest entrance of the building. Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before class starts as the classroom door will not be opened until then. Children are welcomed and released at the northeast entrance.
Pick up: Please be prompt in picking up your child after class. If anyone other than a Parent/Guardian is picking up your child, the teacher needs to be notified prior to pick up by one of the Parents/Guardians. If some instances may occur that you will be late to pick up your child, please call the office to inform your childs teacher.
What will happen if my child acts up in class?
If a child is having difficulty controlling their behaviour, we will try to redirect the inappropriate behaviour by providing positive alternatives. The teacher will talk to the child privately to explain the behaviour problem. Children may be directed to an individual activity if the inappropriate behaviour persists. Should the problem continue, the parents would be informed. When a child displays unusual behaviour such as prolonged crying, tantrums, kicking, or biting, the parents will be notified immediately. Depending on the severity of the behaviour or if it is a recurring safety issue, the child may be dismissed from the program. This decision would be made after discussion with the parents and the teacher. The Preschool teacher makes the final decision.
